The award-winning composer and conductor, Sir James MacMillan, will be giving a public lecture in St John's College Chapel.
Sir James is widely regarded as one of the greatest living composers – in Britain, a successor to Edward Elgar and Benjamin Britten. The lecture title is Music and Silence, and the event will last an hour, including the opportunity for a few questions at the end.
Entry is free and everyone is welcome, tickets are not required. Attendees should enter the College grounds via the Great Gate on St John's Street.
Earlier the same evening, Evensong for the feast of Corpus Christi will take place at 6.30pm, when the Choir of St John’s College will sing Sir James’s powerful anthem, The Offered Christ.
