When you receive your offer letter, please read it carefully to make sure you understand your offer conditions and make a note of anything you need to action.

The following timeline provides an overview of key dates and likely deadlines you may be required to meet after receiving an offer from us.
Specific deadlines will be included in or sent to you shortly after your offer letter. The information in your personalised communications will always take precedence over the details outlined here.
All Cambridge applicants learn the outcome of their application. All Cambridge Colleges send out their decisions on the same day and you may receive your outcome first either from the College or from UCAS. If you have heard from one and not the other, please be patient as the process takes time.
If you haven’t heard from St John’s, please wait until the next day to contact us as we are unable to respond to correspondence relating to offers on the day application outcomes are published.
If you are an overseas fee status student who wishes to apply for a Cambridge Trust Scholarship, applications typically open in February.
If you are eligible to apply, information on how to do so will be provided shortly after you receive your offer.
Offer holders are asked to verify your personal information and supply an appropriate identification document, usually a valid passport.
An Offer Holders’ Open Day is held at St John’s every year, usually in April, to give you all a chance to meet each other and talk to teaching staff and current students. An invitation to attend will be sent to you shortly after you receive your offer.
For medical students only: You will be required to submit vaccination evidence and other medical information. This is are quirement of your offer, with full instructions included in your personalised letter.
Overseas students only: You will need to return your financial guarantee forms and accompanying evidence. Full details will be supplied shortly after you receive your offer.
Students who need a visa to study in the UK will be required to respond to a questionnaire and provide any requested documentation so it can be reviewed by the University’s International Student Office.
Offer holders with completed qualifications declared on their UCAS applications are required to supply examination certificates to St John’s for verification.
If you are eligible for student support, the deadline for submission will be in June.
If you have been set an English Language condition based on a Secure English Language test (such as IELTS), evidence that you have met the condition must be supplied to St John’s by the last working day in July.
GCE A-Level results and other required qualifications are confirmed, and most offers are finalised.
The August Reconsideration Pool opens after A-Level results are published and gives some applicants the chance to have their application reconsidered.
A welcome email is sent to confirmed new students from our Student Services team. It contains everything you need to know about the next steps including how to request your preferred accommodation and the deadline, practical details about arrival times and arrangements, welcome meetings, an invitation to a Freshers’ Formal Hall, and matriculation photograph, service and dinner information.
For medical students only: The deadline to submit evidence of a satisfactory enhanced DBS check is in August.
Undergraduate room allocation is done through a ballot process using the information provided by anyone with special requirements and taking into consideration individual preferences wherever possible. Student Services write to all incoming undergraduates in early September to confirm your room and location.
Undergraduates are paired with a ‘College parent,’ a current student who provides guidance and support as you prepare for and settle into university life.
Our new undergraduates arrive to matriculate, which means formally enrolling as as tudent and officially beginning your studies at the University of Cambridge.
