For most postgraduate courses, applicants must apply through the University Postgraduate Admissions Office Applicant Portal.
You should apply as early as possible after thoroughly researching the courses, the funding available, and the University of Cambridge as a whole, as well as your preferred colleges.
Applications open in early September and the deadlines vary for different courses. To find the deadline for your course, check the course entry in the Postgraduate Course Directory on the University website.
Some courses, such as PGCEs and MBAs, are not administered by the University’s Postgraduate Admissions Office –see how to apply for these below.
You will be asked to state your preferred colleges on your application form.
If you are a current undergraduate at St John’s, consult your College Tutor before making an application.
If you are an undergraduate at another Cambridge college interested in applying to start a postgraduate course at St John’s, contact the College’s Postgraduate Office for information and advice before adding preference colleges to your University application form.
If accepted by the University, your application will be shared with the colleges on your preference list. St John’s must be one of your preference colleges to be considered by us. If you wish to be considered for the Bradlow or Louis Cha Scholarships, you must name St John’s as your first preference.
You will only receive communication from the College that offers you a place. This can take time but the University’s Postgraduate Admissions Office will endeavour to find a college for everyone who is offered a place.
If St John’s offers you a place, we will write to you, including information about College accommodation, with more details to follow.
Offers are made on condition you satisfy the University’s academic and financial requirements for admission. We ask you to keep in contact with us until those conditions are met.
