In the scope of her DAAD lectureship Filiz teaches "Use of German", "Translation into German" and "German through Audio Visual Media" at the Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages and Linguistics.

She is also responsible for the academic supervision of students across all years in College, including German ab-initio students. Through her teaching, Filiz aims to present a more contemporary, multifaceted, and diverse image of Germany. Since September 2024, she has been working as the Social Media Officer for the German section of the MMLL Faculty.

Filiz regularly organises academic talks in German and coordinates extracurricular and supracurricular activities for German speakers. In collaboration with LMU Munich, she has been running a German-English language exchange since September 2023. As a DAAD Lektorin, Filiz also advises students and academics on DAAD scholarships for those seeking to study or work in Germany. She serves as a panel member for the DAAD University Summer Course scholarship program. Most recently, she organized and led a funded study trip to Germany with MMLL students.In addition to her research interests in German as a foreign language, Filiz is also focused on Cultural Memory studies. Specifically, she investigates transnational and regional Sites of Memory (Lieux de Mémoire) of historically marginalized groups.

Currently, Filiz is researching the Euphrates River and its tributaries, which played a role in facilitating the Armenian genocide of 1915. She is exploring how these events have shaped the representation of the Euphrates in the cultural memory of the Armenian community.Filiz is a passionate language enthusiast, fluent in German, French, English, Turkish, Italian and Arabic (MSA and Egyptian). She has a deep interest in the MENA region, especially Egypt. She regularly writes and edits for dis:orient, covering topics related to the MENA region. As a strong advocate for equity in education, Filiz is committed to doing her part to help close the gap.
