Departmental homepageProfessor Lane is a sociologist and has worked in the Department of Sociology at the University of Cambridge since 1990. She undertook her PhD at the London School of Economics.
She supervises doctoral students in cultural sociology.
Her research centres on sociological studies of high-end cuisine, focusing on chefs, their restaurants and on cultural intermediaries who rate and rank restaurants.
