Dr Ricky Metaxas completed a PhD at Imperial College London in 1968. He has worked for the Atomic Energy Authority, the Electricity Council Research Centre (now EA Technology) and Eastern Electricity plc. From 1982 to 2002 he was on an ESI (Electricity Supply Industry) secondment to the Department of Engineering at the University of Cambridge, where he founded and led the Electricity Utilization Group (EUG). He co-authored Industrial Microwave Heating, which has become a key text in the field. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Electrical Engineers and co-founded the Association of Microwave Power in Europe for Research and Education (AMPERE).
