Professor Adam Yuet Chau grew up in Beijing and Hong Kong and received his academic training in Anthropology at Stanford University in the USA. He joined the Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies at Cambridge in 2008 and has been a Fellow of St John's College since 2014.
Professor Chau offers undergraduate and MPhil papers on contemporary Chinese culture and society and supervises MPhil and PhD work on various topics ranging from ritual and religion to language politics and cultural history.
