Departmental homepageProfessor Warnes studied for his BA at the University of Cape Town, South Africa, followed by an MA at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. He came to Cambridge to complete his PhD and then was appointed as a lecturer in English at the University of Stellenbosch before returning to Cambridge.
Professor Warnes teaches modern and contemporary literature.
His research interests centre on 20th- and 21st-century literature, with a focus on the relations between genre, culture and politics in the postcolonial Anglophone world.
