Departmental homepageProfessor Joyce obtained her BSc and BEng degrees from the University of Western Australia. She obtained her PhD from the Australian National University and thereafter undertook a postdoctoral research position in the Department of Physics at the University of Oxford. In 2013 she was appointed to a University Lectureship in Electronic Devices and Materials in the Department of Engineering at the University of Cambridge. She joined St John's College as a Fellow in Engineering at the same time.
She teaches on electromagnetism, semiconductor physics, renewable energy technologies and other topics within the Engineering Tripos.
Professor Joyce's research focuses on developing new materials and device concepts for efficient optoelectronic, energy harvesting and communications technologies. Her research spans III-V material growth, low-dimensional semiconductors, terahertz science and technology and optoelectronic device development.
